Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and orthodontic procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment, maintaining strict infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays, impressions, and photographs as directed
- Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene, braces care, and post-treatment instructions with compassion and clarity
- Maintain accurate patient records, update charts, and assist with appointment scheduling
- Deliver friendly, chairside support that helps patients feel comfortable and confident
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or licensure as required by Maryland state regulations
- Previous experience in orthodontic or general dental assisting is a plus, but we welcome eager learners
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain it
- Exceptional people skills and a genuine passion for patient care
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented clinical environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of dental terminology and orthodontic treatment processes
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays, impressions, and intraoral scans
- Knowledge of sterilization and infection control best practices
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Excellent verbal communication with patients, families, and clinical team
- Comfort with dental software and electronic health records
