Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during a variety of orthodontic procedures, from adjustments to aligner fittings
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment to keep every patient safe and comfortable
• Take and document dental X-rays and impressions while ensuring patients feel at ease
• Educate patients and their families on orthodontic care, showing them how to keep braces and retainers in great shape
• Keep treatment rooms stocked and ready, and support smooth patient flow throughout the day
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records with a smile

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a dental assistant (orthodontic experience is a plus, but a willingness to learn is just as valuable)
• Current dental assistant certification or the ability to meet Maryland state requirements
• X-ray certification or the ability to obtain one
• CPR/BLS certification or willingness to renew
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, patient-first attitude
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and orthodontic tools
• Familiarity with dental software, digital X-rays, and patient scheduling
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Interpersonal skills to connect with patients of all ages
• Organizational skills to keep a busy office running smoothly
