Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist chairside during a variety of orthodontic procedures, from adjustments to aligner fittings
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment to keep every patient safe and comfortable
- Take and document dental X-rays and impressions while ensuring patients feel at ease
- Educate patients and their families on orthodontic care, showing them how to keep braces and retainers in great shape
- Keep treatment rooms stocked and ready, and support smooth patient flow throughout the day
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records with a smile
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a dental assistant (orthodontic experience is a plus, but a willingness to learn is just as valuable)
- Current dental assistant certification or the ability to meet Maryland state requirements
- X-ray certification or the ability to obtain one
- CPR/BLS certification or willingness to renew
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, patient-first attitude
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of dental instruments, sterilization methods, and orthodontic tools
- Familiarity with dental software, digital X-rays, and patient scheduling
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Interpersonal skills to connect with patients of all ages
- Organizational skills to keep a busy office running smoothly
