Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during examinations, procedures, and appliance adjustments
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and operatory rooms to ensure a safe environment
- Take dental radiographs and impressions for accurate treatment planning
- Provide patients with post-procedure care instructions and oral hygiene guidance
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments
- Educate patients on proper braces care and treatment expectations
Qualifications
- Dental Assistant certification as required by Maryland state regulations
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience as a dental assistant, preferably in orthodontics
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work evening shifts
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic instruments and sterilization protocols
- Proficient in dental software and patient management systems
- Comfortable taking impressions and digital x-rays
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced practice
