Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist dental hygienists with patient preparation and instrument handling during procedures
- Sterilize and organize dental instruments and treatment rooms to ensure a clean, safe environment
- Document patient care details accurately and maintain up-to-date dental records
- Provide friendly, reassuring support to patients throughout their visit
- Support dental hygiene treatments by preparing materials and anticipating the provider's needs
- Communicate with patients about appointment flow and post-treatment care instructions
Qualifications
- Current Dental Assistant certification or state registration where applicable
- Previous experience assisting dental hygienists is a plus
- Proficiency with dental charting software and digital records
- Strong understanding of dental terminology and infection control protocols
- Valid CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to build rapport with patients and help them feel at ease
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with dental hygiene procedures and patient positioning
- Skill in electronic health records and scheduling systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
