Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile field for a wide variety of surgical procedures, including orthopedics, total joints, neuro/spine, robotics, urology, GYN, ENT, and plastics
• Serve as a vigilant scrub technologist, passing instruments, sponges, and supplies to surgeons with accuracy and anticipating their needs
• Partner with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes through meticulous attention to detail and infection prevention
• Handle advanced surgical equipment, including robotic platforms like Exactech, Mako, Stealth, and DaVinci, ensuring they are ready and functioning correctly
• Participate in rotating on-call coverage to support emergency and after-hours surgeries, staying ready to handle urgent cases
• Monitor and maintain surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and inventory, making sure everything is in place for each scheduled case

Qualifications

• Active Colorado Certified Surgical Tech (CST) license with DORA (this is non-negotiable for Colorado)
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program with national certification from NBSTSA, AST, or NCCT
• At least 3 years of experience as a scrub technologist, including strong proficiency in orthopedics, total joints, neuro/spine, robotics, urology, GYN, ENT, and plastics
• Permanent address located at least 75 miles from Valley View Hospital, per the traveler radius rule

Education

• Graduate of an accredited scrub technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR protocols
• Experience with robotic surgery platforms including Exactech, Mako, Stealth, and DaVinci
• Ability to stay calm and focused in fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers
• Knowledge of anatomy and surgical procedures across multiple specialties
• Adaptability to handle a rotating schedule and on-call responsibilities
