Respiratory Therapist - NICU
Location: Austin, Texas
Start Date: 08-17-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating night shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, including rotating weekends (4 weekend shifts per month)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform standard respiratory therapy procedures including nebulizer therapy, CPT, and arterial blood gas analysis
- Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo HFNC for NICU patients
- Assist with bronchoscopy and intubation procedures
- Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilation within the hospital (e.g., to CT/MRI)
- Administer inhaled nitric oxide as prescribed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) license in Texas or compact state
- Minimum 1 year of adult respiratory experience in an acute care setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications preferred
- Adult critical care experience (ICU/ED) is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ventilator management with GE ventilators
- Skilled in arterial blood gas collection and analysis
- Knowledge of nebulizer therapy, CPT, and inhaled nitric oxide
- Comfortable with intubation assistance and bronchoscopy support
- Ability to transport mechanically ventilated patients safely
- Experience with Meditech EMR
