Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 28-bed Med Surg unit
• Manage patient assessments, medications, and care plans while maintaining a patient ratio of 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and the broader care team to ensure positive outcomes
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC, our electronic health record system
• Float to the ER when needed to provide 1:1 observation support
• Participate in unit orientation, including classroom learning and a supported 12-hour shift on the floor
• Champion patient safety and follow facility policies, including dress code and infection prevention standards

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg or acute care nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and ability to submit license for verification
• Current BLS certification (required); ACLS certification preferred
• Valid driver's license required for submittal to confirm distance from facility under the 50-mile radius rule
• Comfort working with adult and geriatric patient populations
• EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to pass an open-book skills exam with a 90% score during orientation
• Compliance with facility policies, including the artificial nail restriction

Knowledge & Skills

• Med Surg and acute care nursing knowledge
• BLS and ACLS life support skills
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment abilities
• Ability to adapt to flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
• Team collaboration and clear communication with charge nurses, aides, and providers
• Understanding of infection prevention and patient safety protocols
