Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients, preparing them physically and emotionally for procedures
• Perform focused assessments and document vitals and pre-op findings accurately
• Prepare patients and families with clear, age-appropriate education and support
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth patient flow
• Maintain strict infection control and safety protocols in the pre-op area
• Assist with pre-procedure tasks such as IV starts, medication administration, and verification of consent and documentation

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Washington (WA) required
• Experience in pediatric nursing and/or pre-operative care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills with children and families
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborate as part of a team
• Willingness to complete orientation and facility-specific training

Education

• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate care techniques
• Pre-operative nursing workflows and safety checks
• IV insertion and medication administration for pediatric patients
• Electronic health record documentation and charting accuracy
• Excellent communication and family-centered care skills
• Aseptic technique and infection prevention practices
