Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients to ensure readiness for procedures
• Provide age-appropriate education and reassurance to children and their families, turning anxiety into confidence
• Coordinate with surgical teams and perioperative staff to ensure seamless handoffs and efficient workflow
• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures while maintaining strict infection control and safety standards
• Document assessments, interventions, and vital signs accurately in the patient record
• Monitor patients during the pre-op phase and escalate concerns promptly to the care team
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high-quality pediatric perioperative care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Experience in pediatrics or pre-operative nursing is preferred
• Strong communication skills for working with children, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to pass standard background check and health screening per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate care techniques
• Pre-operative preparation and safety protocols
• Medication administration and IV/line familiarity in a pediatric setting
• Accurate EHR documentation and charting practices
• Strong family-centered communication and education skills
• Teamwork, time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment
