Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients and their families for surgery with clear, compassionate education
Perform pre-operative assessments and document vitals and findings accurately
Administer pre-op medications and start IVs per orders with attention to safety
Coordinate handoffs and communicate effectively with surgical and anesthesia teams
Create and maintain a calm, child-friendly pre-op environment that eases anxiety
Participate fully in orientation and follow facility protocols to ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

Current RN licensure (Washington state or appropriate compact license preferred)
BLS required; PALS preferred or required depending on facility policy
Experience or strong interest in pediatric pre-op nursing is a big plus
Excellent communication skills with children and families
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment and patient comfort techniques
IV starts, medication administration, and pre-op clinical skills
Clear, compassionate patient and family teaching
Accurate documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
Teamwork, situational awareness, and reliable clinical judgment
