Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess pediatric patients pre-operatively to ensure readiness and safety
Prepare patients and families for procedures through clear, compassionate education
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to coordinate care
Administer medications and start IVs as per protocol and physician orders
Document assessments, interventions, and communication clearly in the medical record
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain competency and best practices
Advocate for pediatric patients and support family-centered care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Previous pediatric nursing or pre-operative experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; PALS preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children and families
Ability to follow pre-op protocols, medication administration guidelines, and safety procedures

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active RN license in Ohio
BLS required; PALS recommended

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
Pre-operative screening and preparation processes
IV starts, medication administration, and monitoring
Infection control and perioperative safety practices
Accurate electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration in a surgical setting
