Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the OR
• Prepare the OR and maintain a sterile field, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor patient status throughout procedures and communicate changes promptly
• Advocate for the patient and family, offering clear, compassionate explanations appropriate for children and caregivers
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in the patient record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based education to continuously improve skills

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility to obtain OH licensure
• Current BLS certification required
• Pediatric perioperative experience preferred; OR experience highly valued
• Comfort working with children and their families in a surgical setting
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
• Willingness to participate in orientation as provided by the facility

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with pediatric patient care considerations and family-centered communication
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
• Team-oriented mindset and commitment to patient safety and quality
