Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts; Night: 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typical 3 nights/week). Rotation may include day shifts depending on department needs; schedule reviewed every 4-week period. Weekends variable based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy safely and manage post-chemotherapy body fluid handling with precision
• Provide IV therapy, start IVs, manage PICC and central lines, and perform central line blood draws
• Administer blood and blood products while monitoring for transfusion reactions
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
• Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis, cytokine release syndrome) and sepsis
• Use EPIC electronic charting for accurate documentation and care coordination
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, PT, RT, social work, radiology) to optimize care
• Follow infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies to protect vulnerable patients
• Float to other Med/Surg and Oncology units as needed and support rapid response activations
• Provide compassionate education and communication to patients and families about complex diagnoses

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to work in Ohio; compact license acceptable if applicable)
• ONS certification REQUIRED
• BLS and ACLS required; Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year of hematology/oncology specialty experience (must meet within the 3 most recent years)
• Experience with telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Competence in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC/central line care, and blood product administration
• Comfort with EPIC computerized charting and use of unit monitoring systems
• Willingness to learn, float between Med/Surg and Oncology units, and work variable weekends

• Infection prevention practices and fall risk management
• Feeding tube care and management, insulin and heparin drip familiarity
• Use of rapid response teams and interdisciplinary coordination
