Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients on a Med Surg telemetry unit
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and promptly recognize and escalate dysrhythmias and other cardiac events
• Administer and manage IV therapy including port access, IV starts, PICC and central line care
• Safely administer blood products and support chemotherapy-related symptom management following protocol
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, respiratory therapy, PT, radiology and social work to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain strict infection prevention practices and engage in fall risk mitigation strategies
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps and bladder scanners
• Float to equivalent or lower acuity Med Surg Oncology units as needed to support staffing

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the applicable jurisdiction
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required, with experience requirements met within the 3 most recent years
• At least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass (oncology experience preferred but not required)
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Epic electronic charting experience required
• Comfort with a 1:4 patient ratio and ability to float to similar Med Surg Oncology units
• Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
• Willingness to learn, grow, and participate in a 72-hour orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Dysrhythmia recognition and management
• IV therapy skills including IV starts, central line and PICC management
• Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
• Blood product administration and transfusion safety
• High Flow Nasal Cannula setup and monitoring
• Chest tube assistance for insertion/removal
• Experience using Epic, Alaris infusion pumps, GE B450 telemetry monitors and bladder scanners
• Strong infection prevention practices and fall risk management
