Roles & Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive care to labor and delivery patients
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing techniques, policies, and state practice acts
• Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team
• Document patient care according to standards of care
• Provide patient and family education to support the plan of care
• Participate in performance improvement activities and shared governance
• Use critical thinking to ensure patient safety and escalate concerns to the appropriate chain of command

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including high-risk obstetrics at a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Current Illinois RN license (must be actively licensed)
• Current ACLS, NRP, and BLS/BCLS certifications
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with education verification required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical expertise in antepartum and postpartum care
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapy
• Proficient in electronic medical records (Point Click EMR)
• Excellent critical thinking and patient safety skills
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Effective patient education and communication
