Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum, ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using advanced fetal monitoring and interpret trends to guide care
• Assist physicians and surgical teams as a C-section circulator and support safe operative deliveries
• Administer and manage IV medications including magnesium and Pitocin with vigilance and precision
• Coach and educate families through the stages of childbirth and support breastfeeding initiation and instruction
• Deliver newborn care in the Level 2 nursery, including stabilization and coordination with neonatal teams
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately while communicating effectively with interdisciplinary care teams

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Active Illinois RN license required at time of submission
• Illinois Nurse Agency license required in submittal profile
• BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications required
• Must be fully COVID vaccinated
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Comfort with maternal-fetal monitoring, C-section assistance, and Level 2 newborn care

Knowledge & Skills

• Maternal and fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Labor coaching, patient education, and breastfeeding support
• Newborn care in a Level 2 nursery including experience with low-birth-weight and ventilated infants
• C-section assistance and intraoperative circulation
• IV medication administration including magnesium and Pitocin
• Strong documentation, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a high-volume birthing center environment (approx. 200 births/month)
