Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, intervening promptly when needed
• Assist with deliveries, including natural births and cesarean sections
• Offer emotional support and education to families throughout the birthing process
• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure safe, positive outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and maintain a calm, organized environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS certification (ACLS and NRP preferred)
• Previous experience in Labor and Delivery nursing is highly valued
• Ability to stay composed and decisive in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Labor support techniques and pain management options
• Postpartum care and newborn assessment
• Patient and family education
• Emergency response and resuscitation protocols
• Comfort with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
