Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert, compassionate nursing care in ICU, step-down, cardiac telemetry and neuro/stroke units
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care using the nursing process
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies and state practice act
• Document care and patient status thoroughly and accurately to support clinical continuity
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and care plans
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Utilize critical thinking to escalate patient safety concerns through the proper chain of command
• Participate in unit performance improvement and shared governance activities

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license (required)
• ACLS, CPR and NIHSS certifications (current)
• ICU experience required with extensive cardiac/telemetry background
• Comfortable floating to Medical-Surgical, Step-Down and other units as needed
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; education verification required
• Strong documentation, medication administration and patient education skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (education verification required)

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing and critical care principles
• Cardiac telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Stroke and neuro assessment (NIHSS familiarity)
• Step-down/progressive care and medical-surgical nursing
• Clinical judgment, prioritization and escalation
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and care planning
• Accurate documentation and use of electronic health records
• Medication administration and adherence to policies and standards
