Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult cardiac and neurosurgical patients in a 16-bed MS Cardiac ICU
• Continuously assess and monitor patients, interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data, and adjust care plans accordingly
• Titrate drips safely and accurately (sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin)
• Document patient care and clinical changes in EPIC promptly and thoroughly
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, eICU monitors, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform focused procedures and support advanced therapies as indicated (CRRT oversight, balloon pump awareness, neuro monitoring support)
• Lead bedside shift report and participate in intentional hourly rounding to ensure continuity of care
• Adhere to unit policies and safety protocols, including infection control and fingernail/artificial nail policy
• Be an engaged learner: ask questions, seek resources, and complete orientation competencies and open-book exam requirements

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal to verify radius rule eligibility
• Able to safely titrate drips and interpret telemetry/monitoring strips
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts with every-other-weekend coverage
• Willingness to complete unit orientation (2 shifts) and pass the orientation exam (90% passing score)
• Not currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) per radius rule
• Culturally sensitive and able to care for a diverse patient population, including non-English speakers

Education

• Active RN license required
• Formal nursing education (Diploma, ADN, or BSN) — BSN is not listed as required on this posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and monitor strip interpretation skills
• Experience with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Ability to titrate vasoactive and sedative drips safely
• Familiarity with advanced ICU therapies such as CRRT, Impella, balloon pump awareness, EVDs and lumbar drains
• Comfort with neuro monitoring tools (Camino, ICP monitoring) and hypothermia devices (Gaymar)
• Troubleshooting skills for vents and respiratory equipment
• Ability to work with eICU remote monitoring and collaborate with remote teams
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills
