Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during exams and procedures to ensure smooth, efficient patient care
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and treatment rooms between patients
• Take and process dental X-rays, impressions, and photographs as directed
• Record patient treatment and update charts using Denticon dental software
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care with a warm, encouraging approach
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment

Qualifications

• Maryland dental assistant certification or registration (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Orthodontic assisting experience, including knowledge of braces, retainers, and other appliances
• Comfort using Denticon or similar dental practice management software
• CPR/BLS certification
• Ability to build rapport with patients of all ages and create a positive experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of dental and orthodontic terminology, instruments, and sterilization protocols
• Understanding of orthodontic procedures, from initial bonding to wire changes and retention
• Skill in taking diagnostic X-rays, impressions, and intraoral scans
• Proficient with Denticon software for scheduling, charting, and patient records
• Strong attention to detail and infection control practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
