Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse oximetry, to keep patients safe and comfortable during procedures
- Assist with nitrous oxide and IV sedation, helping patients feel relaxed throughout their oral surgery experience
- Capture high-quality panoramic X-rays to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Support the oral surgeon during wisdom tooth extractions and other surgical procedures, anticipating needs and keeping the operatory running smoothly
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and operatory rooms, ensuring a sterile and organized environment
- Educate patients on post-operative care and answer questions to promote a smooth recovery
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with vital sign monitoring, including blood pressure and pulse oximetry
- Proven experience with nitrous oxide and IV sedation in a dental or surgical setting
- Skilled in taking panoramic X-rays
- Comfortable assisting with wisdom tooth surgery and oral surgery procedures
- A genuine passion for patient care and teamwork
- Dental assistant certification or license as required by Virginia state regulations
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and oral surgery procedures
- Proficiency with panoramic X-ray equipment
- Understanding of sedation protocols and patient monitoring
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, reassuring bedside manner
- Attention to detail and commitment to sterile technique
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
