Roles & Responsibilities

• Take and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse oximetry, before and during procedures
• Assist the oral surgeon with nitrous oxide and IV sedation to keep patients comfortable and safe
• Capture panoramic X-rays to support surgical planning and diagnosis
• Support wisdom tooth extraction surgeries with precise instrument handling and patient monitoring
• Provide clear, compassionate post-operative instructions to help patients recover smoothly
• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and treatment rooms for each procedure
• Monitor patients throughout their visit and help ease any anxiety or concerns
• Collaborate with the dental team to maintain an efficient, welcoming environment

Qualifications

• Certified or registered Dental Assistant, as required by Virginia state regulations
• Experience taking vital signs and monitoring patients in a clinical setting
• Comfortable assisting with nitrous oxide and IV sedation cases
• Experience with panoramic X-rays and oral surgery procedures
• CPR/BLS certification is strongly preferred
• A friendly, calming presence and strong communication skills

• Vital sign assessment and recognition of changes
• Post-operative patient education and discharge instructions
