Shift Type: Mid-shift schedule with 12-hour shifts (start times as early as 10:00 AM or as late as 1:00 PM, ending 10:30 PM or 1:30 AM), every third weekend rotation

Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department with varying acuity levels
• Deliver expert trauma care in a Level 2 trauma center environment
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions per protocol
• Monitor and stabilize critically ill patients, including those with STEMI, stroke, and sepsis
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, techs, and unit secretaries
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech electronic health record
• Use AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) to enhance patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Kansas RN license (or compact license) - current and in good standing
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Emergency/Trauma nurse in a Level 2 trauma center
• ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC, and NIH certifications required
• CEN or TCRN certification strongly preferred
• CPI certification is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert knowledge of emergency nursing and trauma care
• Proficient in STEMI care, stroke care, sepsis management, and triage
• Skilled in using Meditech documentation system
• Ability to work with a Level 1 fluid warmer, GE monitor system, Artic Sun, Lifepak, and Alaris pumps
• Experience with all procedures associated with a Level 2 trauma center
• Understanding of AIDET and whiteboard communication for patient experience
