Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patient needs in the step-down/SDU setting with clinical confidence
• Monitor cardiac/telemetry status and intervene quickly when changes occur
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and transition to the next level of care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Support unit operations and float to other areas as needed to maintain patient flow

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and other advanced certifications preferred
• Experience in step-down, telemetry, or progressive care settings preferred
• Comfort with monitoring cardiac rhythms and managing acute changes
• Ability to float to other units as needed and work within a block schedule
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted; BSN preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing program and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation
• Teamwork, adaptability, and a calm approach under pressure
