Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and treatments to patients with a focus on safety and comfort
• Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory support equipment
• Perform therapeutic procedures such as aerosol treatments, airway clearance techniques, and oxygen therapy
• Document patient responses, treatments, and changes in condition accurately and timely
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and equipment use with compassion and clarity
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other therapists
• Maintain and sanitize respiratory equipment to meet infection control and facility standards

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist credential (CRT or RRT) preferred
• Active state Respiratory Care license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Missouri
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS preferred or recommended based on patient population
• Previous clinical experience in acute care, pediatrics, or hospital settings is a strong plus
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
• Able to pass facility onboarding and orientation requirements

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program
• Completion of an accredited clinical training program or clinical internship

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation modalities
• Familiarity with arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation
• Skilled in respiratory assessment and monitoring
• Knowledge of pulmonary medications and delivery systems
• Ability to operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment safely
• Good clinical judgment and the ability to prioritize in fast-paced settings
• Strong documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
