Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the hospital
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
• Administer breathing treatments, oxygen therapy, and medications as prescribed
• Operate and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and airway devices
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and home management

Qualifications

• Current Virginia Respiratory Therapist license (or eligible to obtain one)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current BLS certification (ACLS/PALS preferred)
• Prior acute care respiratory therapy experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities, including mechanical ventilation
• Expertise in patient assessment, airway management, and emergency response
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
• Proficiency with electronic health records and respiratory equipment
