Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative care to pediatric patients and their families
• Assess patients' health status, review medical histories, and ensure readiness for surgery
• Collaborate with the surgical team to support safe and smooth procedures
• Educate children and caregivers about what to expect before surgery, easing anxiety
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and uphold strict safety protocols
• Create a calm, reassuring environment that helps pediatric patients feel comfortable

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
• Current BLS certification required
• PALS certification is highly desirable
• Experience in pre-operative, perioperative, or pediatric nursing is preferred
• Strong communication and patient education skills
• A genuine passion for working with children and families

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pre-operative nursing assessments and procedures
• Understanding of pediatric development and family-centered care
• Skilled in patient observation, vital signs monitoring, and documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
