Roles & Responsibilities

• Recover and monitor post-anesthesia patients from the OR, EP lab, Endo, IR, MRI and ICU with confidence
• Assess and manage pain, sedation (RASS) and PCA pumps to keep patients comfortable and safe
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and other cardiac events using bedside monitors
• Manage invasive lines and devices: arterial lines, central lines and ICP monitoring when needed
• Provide airway and ventilator care for patients recovering or transferring to ICU level care
• Administer medications safely and document accurately in Epic and Pyxis workflows
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams and interdisciplinary services to coordinate care
• Participate in unit disaster/storm response teams as assigned and support continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-appropriate) required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with required ICU experience (ICU experience is mandatory for screening)
• Travel nurse experience required
• Current BLS (BCLS), ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Phase I and Phase II PACU experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis and Perfect Serve preferred
• Comfort with cardiac monitoring, ventilator care, arterial/central line management and procedural sedation

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia recovery principles (Phase I & II PACU)
• Airway management and ventilator support
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial/central line care
• Pain assessment and PCA pump management
• Use of RASS for sedation/agitation assessment
• Procedural sedation monitoring and post-epidural care
• Pediatric PACU and Phase II experience for varied case mix
