Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while championing safety, privacy, and dignity for every patient.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
• Safely administer medications and IV therapy, and monitor patient responses with a keen clinical eye.
• Maintain a sterile field and direct proper care, handling, and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Verify patient identification, surgical site, and consent before every procedure to ensure patient safety.
• Serve as a patient advocate and educator, preparing patients and families for surgery and recovery.
• Document all care accurately and communicate clearly with the healthcare team for seamless continuity.
• Proactively identify risks to patient safety and participate in quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Operating Room nursing experience strongly preferred
• CNOR certification strongly preferred
• Current ACLS certification, or active BLS and willingness to obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and prioritization skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing and aseptic technique
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and IV therapy
• Ability to maintain sterile fields and manage surgical instrumentation
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Proficient in documenting care and using electronic health records
