Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adults with medical and telemetry needs
• Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, reading telemetry strips to detect changes and intervene promptly
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, PCTs, and respiratory therapists to deliver safe, coordinated care
• Manage patients with CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and CKD, including administering medications and titrating Heparin as ordered
• Float to neighboring med/surg units or PCU as needed to support patient flow and community care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or a compact state
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
• 18+ months of recent Med/Tele nursing experience required
• Experience reading telemetry strips and caring for telemetry patients
• Rural hospital experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication, time-management, and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Med/Tele patient care including CHF, diabetes, PNA, and CKD
• Charting systems: Paragon, transitioning to EPIC
• CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Heparin titration and IV therapy
• Flexibility to float and adapt to changing patient needs
