Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive med/surg nursing care to patients on a dedicated 20-bed Transplant Nephrology unit
• Monitor and manage post-operative kidney transplant patients and those with renal conditions
• Collaborate with nephrologists and the care team to develop individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant recovery
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Meditech
• Partner with virtual nurses to streamline admissions and focus on bedside care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Missouri or a compact state
• ADN required (Associate Degree in Nursing)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience, ideally with nephrology or transplant patients
• Current BLS certification
• Experience with renal, dialysis, and kidney transplant patient populations
• Comfortable floating to other units as needed (agency/contract nurses float first)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg and acute care nursing skills
• Working knowledge of nephrology, kidney transplants, and renal care
• Understanding of dialysis procedures (dialysis is performed off the unit)
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation system
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Ability to manage 1:6 patient ratios with compassion and efficiency
