Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate med/surg nursing care to a diverse adult patient population
• Assess patient status, interpret clinical data, and implement appropriate interventions
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document according to policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and post-discharge care
• Advocate for patients and ensure continuity of care during shift handoffs
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license for Louisiana (compact license holders should verify eligibility)
• Clinical experience in medical/surgical nursing; med/surg comfort required
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical judgment skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of med/surg nursing principles and best practices
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and charting
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Familiarity with common med/surg procedures, wound care, and post-op care
