Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and their newborns, ensuring a safe and positive birth experience
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal vital signs, intervening promptly to promote optimal outcomes
• Actively circulate for cesarean sections, maintaining a sterile field and coordinating with the surgical team
• Deliver compassionate postpartum care, educating new families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, anesthesiologists, and OB techs to provide patient-centered care
• Float seamlessly between L&D and Postpartum units, adapting to the dynamic needs of the unit

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent L&D/Postpartum experience (no first-time travelers)
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections independently
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• AWHONN certification preferred
• Travel nursing experience strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Comprehensive labor and delivery nursing skills
• Postpartum care and newborn assessment
• C-section circulation and sterile technique
• Proficient with Cerner EMR and fetal link monitoring
• Knowledge of AWHONN guidelines
• Ability to float between L&D and Postpartum units
• Strong patient education and communication skills
