Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to SICU, MICU, and TICU patients, managing complex, high-acuity cases
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support, including Cervo I, jet and oscillator vents
• Safely perform and maintain sterile technique for central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion
• Read and interpret ECG/telemetry strips and respond to dysrhythmias promptly
• Titrate drips and manage common titratable and set-rate infusions under hospital protocols
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, RTs, and the interdisciplinary team for 24/7 patient care
• Complete SIMs Lab competencies and participate in unit-specific orientation and education
• Float across ICU areas and other units or to Westgate campus as operational needs require
• Support bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and hemodialysis catheter placements

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Arizona)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience, with Level 1 trauma experience required
• Experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility strongly preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Must pass facility dysrhythmia competency exam (travelers have two attempts)
• Demonstrated competency in ventilator management, telemetry interpretation, and central line/Foley care
• Ability to complete and pass SIMs Lab skills (sterile field maintenance, Foley insertion, central line dressing changes)
• Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel team requirements and 50-mile radius expectations
• Must meet facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Advanced ventilator management and respiratory support modalities
• Central line care, sterile technique, and Foley insertion skills
• Titration and monitoring of vasoactive drips
• Care for post-transplant patients and complex surgical recoveries
• Prone therapy, tracheostomy and bronchoscopy bedside support
• Hemodialysis catheter care and familiarity with bedside dialysis procedures
• Wound care, lifts and restraints, and safe patient handling
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and unit-based documentation
• Comfort floating across ICU and MedSurg/Tele units and working with monitor techs
