Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for combined adult and pediatric patients in a Level II environment
• Perform rapid triage and prioritize care for high-acuity patients using evidence-based practice
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines and PICCs, and administer blood products safely
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias and initiate emergency responses
• Administer IV vasopressors and manage patients on ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP or during procedural sedation
• Deliver compassionate care to behavioral health and medically complex patients, including safe restraint and seclusion procedures when required
• Accurately document care in Epic and use Pyxis for medication administration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy and social services to coordinate patient care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact license accepted and honored by Swedish facilities)
• Minimum 3 years of emergency department nursing experience (2 years strong ED experience may be screened for Aya offer)
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS and NIHSS certifications required
• Demonstrated experience with triage, IV therapy, blood product administration and central line care
• Comfortable with ventilator care, CPAP/BiPAP, procedural sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Ability to float to Edmonds and other Swedish campuses as needed
• Reliable, professional scrubs and readiness for on-call weekend rotation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
• Current certifications as noted (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage skills and ability to manage 1:4 staffing ratios
• Proficient in Epic charting and Pyxis medication system
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration and central line/PICC care
• Ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP and rapid sequence intubation familiarity
• Procedural sedation monitoring and emergency response (including cardioversion/defibrillation)
• Experience with pediatric ED cases (roughly 10% pediatric patient mix)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced Level II trauma environment
