Physical Therapist Assistant - Long-Term Care
Location: Rockland, MA
Start Date: 08-31-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 8-hour day shifts, no weekends, no on-call
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $41 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled rehabilitative care to patients with physical functioning disorders under the direction of a Physical Therapist
- Implement evidence-based treatment plans, including manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, ambulation training, and assistive devices
- Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising PT to adjust treatments as needed
- Accurately document patient care, treatment minutes, and outcomes in the electronic health record
- Counsel and educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding physical disorders and care plans
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure cohesive and effective rehabilitation services
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization reviews, and required facility trainings
- Supervise and support PTA students, adhering to APTA and state practice guidelines
Qualifications
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 1 year of PTA experience
- Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings
- Strong patient-centered, evidence-based approach to care
- Ability to collaborate effectively with supervising PTs and care teams
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of physical therapy modalities and rehabilitation techniques
- Understanding of long-term care and skilled nursing regulations
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health records
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and team members
- Ability to assess progress and adapt treatment plans as needed
- Commitment to professional ethics and APTA standards
