Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality mammography exams following department protocols and radiologist direction to ensure accurate diagnostic images.
• Provide compassionate patient education and clear pre/post-exam instructions to create a safe, informed experience.
• Maintain daily QA, preventative maintenance logs, and ALARA radiation safety practices to protect patients and staff.
• Manage accreditation records, structured reporting, and audit documentation to keep the program inspection-ready.
• Verify orders, confirm patient identity via two identifiers, review histories, obtain informed consent, and ensure necessary prior studies are available.
• Document procedures, charges, and patient information accurately in the EHR and utilize PACS/RIS for image and record management.
• Troubleshoot imaging equipment, coordinate service calls when needed, and help maintain supply inventory and ordering.
• Assist with cross-training, clerical duties, phone reception, and occasional patient transport to support smooth clinic operations.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and suggest workflow or policy enhancements in breast imaging services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program (required).
• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) (required).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of hire (required).
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States; successful background check and pre-employment drug screen required.
• Preferred: Two (2) years prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist and cross-training in CT, MRI, or DEXA.
• Experience with PACS and RIS/HIS electronic record systems is preferred.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in mammography imaging procedures and women’s health radiology workflows.
• Strong EHR, PACS, and RIS experience for accurate documentation and image management.
• Radiation safety practices (ALARA) and daily QA/preventative maintenance knowledge.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes for mammography.
• Patient identification, education, informed consent, and strong communication skills.
• Troubleshooting imaging equipment and coordinating service/maintenance.
• Ability to cross-train in CT, MRI, DEXA and assist with clerical/operational duties.
