Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric patients by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
• Assist with safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics to promote patient independence
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations
• Communicate clearly and promptly with nurses and the interdisciplinary team about changes in patient condition
• Maintain a clean and safe environment while following infection control protocols and facility policies
• Support patients emotionally by engaging in conversation and meaningful activities to enhance quality of life
• Document all care and observations thoroughly and professionally in the patient record

Qualifications

• GNA certification required
• Previous experience in geriatric care, rehab, or long-term care preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass facility-required background checks and drug screens
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a compassionate bedside manner
• Physically able to assist with patient transfers and mobility tasks

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care principles
• Familiarity with safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic skills in measuring and recording vital signs
• Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
• Careful documentation and time-management abilities
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with seniors and their families
