Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Brooklyn Park, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Per diem; days vary)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to geriatric residents
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and mobility
Monitor and accurately document vital signs and resident observations
Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
Communicate changes in condition to nursing staff and participate in care planning
Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful interactions

Qualifications

Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
High school diploma or GED preferred
Ability to pass required background and health screenings
Comfort working night shifts and availability on a per-diem basis
Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills

Education

High school diploma or GED (preferred)
GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
Skillful assistance with ADLs and safe resident handling
Basic vital signs assessment and documentation accuracy
Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
Good communication skills with residents, families, and clinical teams
Ability to follow care plans and report changes clearly
