Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Days not specified, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening/PM shift)
Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, including personal hygiene and mobility assistance
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with feeding, dressing, grooming, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care activities and resident responses accurately and timely
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience working with elderly or long-term care residents is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to safely lift and move residents with training and team support
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, simple observations
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and dementia care basics
- Good documentation skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow care plans
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Time management skills to prioritize resident needs during a shift
