Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and behavioral changes accurately
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
• Communicate promptly with nursing staff about changes in resident condition
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
• Document care thoroughly and clearly in resident records
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activity to promote well-being
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
• Valid Maryland GNA/CNA registration or ability to obtain state registration as required
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Compassionate, patient-focused mindset with strong communication skills
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work per-diem shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care tasks
• Skilled in taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Knowledge of basic infection control and safety practices
• Ability to document observations clearly and concisely
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with older adults
• Teamwork-oriented with a willingness to support nursing staff
