Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary based on staffing needs), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
- Measure and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and resident interactions
- Promote resident safety through fall prevention and safe transfer techniques
- Communicate clearly with nurses, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Support a clean, respectful, and dignified living environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or state-equivalent credential) in good standing
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with elderly or long-term care populations is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for resident care
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of elder care best practices and dignity-focused care
- Basic skills in measuring vital signs and recognizing changes in condition
- Infection control and proper hygiene techniques
- Time management and prioritization in a busy care setting
- Familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
