Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (as-needed), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
Assist with safe transfers, mobility support, and fall prevention to keep residents secure
Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
Support meal assistance and hydration while respecting individual needs and preferences
Document care activities and observations accurately and timely in the resident record
Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, respectful environment for residents and families

Qualifications

Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (required)
State-required nursing assistant registry listing (as applicable)
Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfortable working with older adults and supporting mobility and ADLs
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently on per diem shifts

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant / GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
Skilled in safe resident handling and basic mobility assistance
Familiarity with charting basic care activities and communicating observations
Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
Ability to follow care plans and infection control practices
