Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents—assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ condition and report any changes promptly to the nursing team
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records
• Support mealtime, hydration, and feeding assistance as needed
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver person-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
• Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Classified as GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
• Current/state required GNA certification or completion of an accredited GNA program
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Prior experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Knowledge of basic infection control and safety procedures
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
• Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to work independently on night shifts
