Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment for trauma, neuro, and orthopedic procedures
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and supplies safely
• Assist in positioning and draping patients while ensuring safety and comfort
• Count instruments and supplies to prevent retained items and maintain compliance
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia to keep procedures running smoothly
• Respond quickly and calmly during emergencies to support the team and patient

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with NBSTSA or NCCT certification
• Current BLS certification (AHA or equivalent)
• Proven experience in trauma, neuro, and orthopedic surgery settings
• Ability to work a weekend block schedule (Friday-Sunday)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrument handling
• Familiarity with surgical equipment, instrumentation, and troubleshooting
• Understanding of anatomy, surgical positioning, and aseptic practices
• Ability to stay focused and composed in high-pressure surgical environments
• Skill in maintaining accurate counts and documentation
