Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management program for the organization
• Direct the patient safety program and guide system-level improvements to reduce adverse events
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Facilitate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and the healthcare team after incidents
• Plan and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode & Effects Analyses (FMEA) to drive system improvements
• Conduct patient safety rounds and deliver practical education to staff, management, and physicians
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on care quality and peer review issues
• Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support
• Monitor regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and ensure organizational compliance
• Serve as a mentor and resource, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (agency staff must already have; direct hires must have applied prior to start)
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years if not already held
• Clinical competency must be demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years
• Minimum 3 years' experience in risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory work
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborative improvement efforts
• Experience with incident investigation, disclosure, RCA, and FMEA processes
• Working knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)

Education

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (or proof of application prior to start for direct hire)
• CPHRM certification (required within 2 years if not already held)
