Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their families about respiratory diseases, procedures, and discharge care
• Plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory therapy treatments
• Deliver physician-ordered respiratory care while maintaining close communication with medical and nursing staff
• Share clinical knowledge and serve as a role model for staff and students
• Accept reassignment to other units as needed to support patient care

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Respiratory Therapist license
• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Experience with patient assessment, care planning, and patient education
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to changing environments

Education

• Associate's degree required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of respiratory disease processes and treatment interventions
• Care planning and outcome evaluation
• Excellent patient education and communication abilities
• Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with electronic medical records, including Point Click
