Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry to identify changes in patient condition
• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to telemetry patients, including medication administration and IV therapy as appropriate
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and communicate findings clearly to the care team
• Respond promptly to clinical changes and emergencies, applying ACLS and BLS protocols when needed
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record accurately and timely
• Collaborate with physicians, unit staff, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized patient plans
• Participate in required competency exams and skills checklists to maintain high-quality care standards
• Educate patients and families about their condition, telemetry monitoring, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to practice in Illinois); Nursys registration preferred
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications preferred or completion upon hire
• Ability to pass required screenings: drug screen, TB testing, fit test, and immunization requirements (MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Comfortable working both day and night shifts on a per diem basis
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills
• Successful completion of facility-required competency exams and skills checklists

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Completion of required facility onboarding and competency exams

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Patient assessment and vital sign interpretation
• Medication administration and IV therapy basics
• Proficiency with electronic health record documentation
• Infection control practices and safety protocols
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and effective teamwork
