Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor neonatal patients continuously, responding quickly to changes
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the NICU team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Operate and troubleshoot neonatal support equipment such as ventilators and incubators
• Provide family-centered education and emotional support to parents and caregivers
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate patient progress clearly
• Assist with emergency interventions including neonatal resuscitation
• Maintain accurate charting in the electronic health record and ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Valid California RN license required or compact RN eligible
• Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience preferred; new grads with NICU externship considered
• Comfortable with ventilator management, IV therapy and neonatal monitoring
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and adapt quickly to a travel assignment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neonatal assessment and developmentally appropriate care
• Experience with neonatal ventilators, incubators and thermoregulation
• Medication administration and neonatal IV/lines expertise
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and accurate documentation
• Family-centered care and patient education
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in high-acuity settings
