Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, specialized care to critically ill newborns and their families in the NICU
• Monitor vital signs, assess neonatal responses, and detect changes in condition
• Collaborate with neonatologists, nurse practitioners, and the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and specialized neonatal interventions safely
• Support and educate parents and caregivers during an incredibly stressful time
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure high-quality standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• NRP certification required for NICU
• Previous NICU or critical care experience preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of neonatal assessment and developmental care
• Comfort with ventilators, monitors, and NICU-specific technology
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and family support skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
