Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Start Date: 08-13-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Flexible shifts (per diem), 12.5-hour day or night shifts as needed
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $52 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, specialized care to critically ill newborns and their families in the NICU
- Monitor vital signs, assess neonatal responses, and detect changes in condition
- Collaborate with neonatologists, nurse practitioners, and the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and specialized neonatal interventions safely
- Support and educate parents and caregivers during an incredibly stressful time
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure high-quality standards of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- NRP certification required for NICU
- Previous NICU or critical care experience preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of neonatal assessment and developmental care
- Comfort with ventilators, monitors, and NICU-specific technology
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication and family support skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
